In 2020, many of us transitioned from working at our company’s offices to turning our homes into offices. We even have a guide on how to make a home office. But now that you have your home office up and running, we are now ready to give you some office improvement tips and ideas. Keep scrolling to learn more.
Measure Before Your Start
First and foremost, you need to measure the space you have before starting your makeover. This will help you plan the placement of items, how much flooring or paint you will need or the amount of space you have for organization. The best way to do this is to clear out the room and bust out your measuring tape.
Add A Dresser
Dressers are not only for bedrooms. You can even have them in your office. They are the perfect thing to store items or to add decorations on top. Plus, you can find a variety of sizes at many different furniture stores depending on how big your office really is (aka this is where measuring before you start comes to play.) When placing the dresser in the room, it is best to set it against a wall adjacent to your desk. But always make sure you have enough walking room between the two items.
Keep it Simple
Your office is where you get work done and concentrate. If you have too many items in the room, you can easily find yourself getting distracted. The best way to avoid this is to keep the room simple. You do not want to overload it with furniture, artwork, decorations and other supplies. Having too many things can overload your mind and decrease your productivity.
Place a Guest Seating Arrangement
Whether it is your significant other, co-workers, clients or even your children, people are going to eventually come and visit you. Make sure you accommodate all your guests by having additional seating arrangements. Depending on the size of the room, you can add a couch and a table or a couple of sturdy yet comfy chairs.
Add Artwork
Even though you are keeping the space simple, that does not mean you cannot add some of your personality here and there. Paintings and artwork are the perfect addition to any room. They can easily become a statement piece or a talking point if anyone comes over to visit. It is best to keep the artwork to up to two or three pieces. The smaller the room is, the less amount of paintings you should have up.
Brighten the Room
Keep your energy up all day long by working in a bright room. Past studies show that humans work best in bright environments. This type of light helps people stay awake and alert. The best lighting anyone can use is natural lighting. If your office has access to a window, make sure your desk has an ample amount of light coming from it. We do not recommend placing your desk at the window because direct sunlight can damage your eyes and cause glares on computer screens.
