Prepare Your Home for Christmas

The holiday season is here, and it is the time of the year full of festivities, family and holiday wishes. Before you have people come by and visit, you want to make sure your home is in tip-top shape. We want to help you get everything ready, so we made this guide on how to prepare your home for Christmas.

Refinish Your Hardwood

Give your hardwood floors the shine they need by refreshing them with refinish. Hardwood floor refinishing will not only give your floors a good shine but will also get rid of stains, scratches and scuffs. If you do want to refinish your floors, make sure to do this task before the holidays or at the beginning. It can take a few days to a week to get your floors refinished depending on the type you have, the kind of stain and your refinisher’s schedule.

Deep Clean Your Floors

Your floors need proper cleaning and treatment before anyone comes over. Depending on the type of floors you have, you will need the right cleaning solution and process. For hardwood, laminate and luxury vinyl, you are going to want to stick to sweeping, vacuuming and spot cleaning with minimal water. Too much water can damage your floors. You can mop tile and waterproof floors. For carpet, you will need to vacuum and spot clean stains. If you have deep stains, it is best to hire a carpet cleaning team to help tackle tough spots.

Repair Broken Appliances or Interior Issues

Who wants to find broken appliances or interior issues? To avoid this from happening, you will need to repair any broken items that you find. You can easily complete small and simple tasks, but you will want to work with a home repair contractor for more difficult or tedious tasks. The holidays are a busy time. Don’t be stuck trying to get everything done on your own.

Tidy Up Guest Rooms

If you have people staying over, you will need to make sure your guests’ rooms are clean and tidy. No one wants to sleep in a cluttered or unorganized room. Before anyone arrives, you are going to want to wash the bedding, deep clean the floors, take out the trash and disinfect the room. If these rooms have bathrooms, include extra towels and toilet paper as well.

Rearrange Furniture

Make sure there is enough sitting and walking room for everyone by rearranging furniture. You will want to have enough seating room around the Christmas tree and in your kitchen or dining room. If you plan on having activities outside, also have additional chairs or benches outside. Not every house has a guest room to house people spending the night. Therefore, you will need to make some space for an air mattress

Decorate Your Home

Don’t forget that the holidays are a festive time of the year, so if you like getting in the holiday mood, you will want to decorate your home. Whether you have reindeer, Santa Claus, trees, nutcrackers and more, it will look amazing in your home.
